Hi all,

I was hoping someone might have some ideas on this for me. I've noticed that alot of the Mp3's I download, (especially Mp3's from mp3.com) will not play in the quicktime player (most current version). I try to open these files and nothing happens. No crash, no messages, it's just like you never tried to open the file. I know they are Mp3's because they play on other players. I can also use dropdecoder and convert them back to AIFF's and then convert them back to Mp3's which usually solves the problem.

Any Ideas?

I've seen this before but I've never given it much thought, as QuickTime Player is (imo) an extremely poor MP3.

I'd check out some of the other offerings, including SoundJam MP Free, if you'd rather not spend money on an MP3 application.

Try cutting the name down. I've had the same problem and I find that shortening the name works. Is there a maximum number of characters for a QT filename? I don't know!
