I'm looking for an inexpensive (under $200) solution to capture video from my analog video camera to my G4. I can go either USB or SCSI but I also want output capability to record it back to tape.

I have seen several USB capture (input only) devices by Belkin and xlr8 for around $99 but can't find anything that has output. Can anyone recommend a device?

Also, I'm thinking of getting iMovie2 once I solve this. However, some of these products include StrataVision? Would I need iMovie as well?

Thanks.

I would look at a Digital Media Converter, although the least expensive may be more than $200.

iMovie only works with DV files. You may need to convert other products files to DV streams using QuickTime Pro before you can use them with iMovie. The added expense of a DMC may make this worthwhile.

Another option might be to sell your camera and put the $200 difference towards a digital camcorder. If you have a Hi8 camera now, a Ditial8 camera would allow you to use your existing tapes as well.
