I'm planning on buying Quicktime pro, to make web movies and to stream quicktime files into iMovie 2.

Is it a better idea to wait until quikctime pro 5 comes out, or do you get a free upgrade from 4 anyway?

The serial number for Quicktime Pro is compatible with all versions of QT begining with version 3. If you buy now, it will work with QT 5 (works with public preview too). Good luck!

As Gromit said it works on all version from QT 3 on. If you bought Mac OS 8.5 when it first came out Apple included a free key to QT 3 and able to use it ever since. The MacOS X version als works with the key
