Hi, I was wondering how I can save the Movie Trailer for Jurassic Park? I am not going to distrubute it I want to write it to a disc so I can show my little brother, but it won't let me save it and it opens the QuickTime player so it is not stored in the Temporary Files folder of Explorer. Anyone know where I can find it, it has to be somewhere on my computer. I have done a search for the name of it but it doen't come up. Any ideas is great.
Thanks

There are a couple of things you can do to get around the "Kiosk Mode" and or, the movies that are mastered with the save option turned off (available to authors with the developer version of the Sørensen codec I think).

One is to let the movie load, and then copy the "QuickTimePluginTemp" file out of the invisible "Temporary Items" folder (Mac OS 9) using Sherlock. Then rename the file "whatever.mov"

The other option is to dig through the HTML and get the HTTP URL for the movie (you may need to download the "_ref" movie and get the HTTP URL from that using the MakeRefMovie application), and use your favorite HTTP downloader or the "wget" command from the Mac OS X command line.

Thanks for the info, I am trying it now. I have another question, is it possible to unlock a movie once it is. I am trying to make a VCD out of a locked movie and it won't let me. Thanks again

in view to sve a movie that you are not allow to, you only have to turn on "save in cache" in the pref of the plug in and it will be stored in the cache folder of your browser. just put it away before it is erase. and well it works ( at least with IE)

Just got this working as well (using QT 5 and Navigator). In the QT control Panel under Browser Plug-in there's an option for saving the files in your cache whenever possible. If you enable this, then the file will show up there and all you have to do is grad it to teh desktop and rename it keeping the .mov suffix.

For whatever reason, using QT 5, you can search out the "invisible" temp file (by custom setting the Sherlock search criteria to "greater than" 10 or 20 Mgs and choosing "made today") but when you drag it to the desktop and append a .mov designation, QT will not recognize the file and it may crash it depending on the file.

Addendum: The only Trailers that this doesn't seem to work on are the "Full Screen" ones. For whatever reason, they are saved only as links and not full QT movies.

I was able to save the full-screen movies using the download via HTTP method.

I am also trying to make a VCD using Toast 5 of a "locked" QuickTime movie (specificially the "Making of Episode II" movies from starwars.com). The movie indicates that it does not allow saving and Toast reports a "Mac OS Error."

Does anyone know of a way arround this? Thanks!
