I'd like to thank Apple for effectively killing my favorite application, SoundJam. They're smelling more and more like a certain company from Redmond almost daily now.

Here, let me act like Apple for you (and hopefully make you feel better):
We don't care.
That's what it feels like sometimes...

I'm with dmcknigh...
..and I'm waiting for Audion for OS X or a good version of iTunes (with equalizers, skins, and more options everywhere)

The SoundJam development team
is now working for Apple on their popular iTunes jukebox software, and will
continue to work on exciting and innovative products for Mac users.

While I agree with you slightly on being upset about SoundJam selling out to Apple, my thoughts are that we already have the program, so who really cares?
There is a certain point that an MP3 player can go in terms of software (or course Hardware can get smaller and hold more music), but could it be that SoundJam tapped out? Like I said, I have SoundJam and I have iTunes... I use them both for different things... I like SoundJam's feature to record straight from a line-in to mp3. I like the way iTunes uses the music library to contain everything... So what do I do? I use iTunes for daily playback/ripping... I use SoundJam to record using the line-in... They happily co-exist on my machine...

The problem is for Mac OS X users...
But I'm sure that the future versions of iTunes will be great.

iTunes will get better. Why wouldn't it? They just released the SDK for plugins. I'm sure a skin SDK will be out somtime. If not, things always get hacked. I don't think Apple will let iTunes get stagnant.

apple NEEDS to create apps for the mac os, this helps sell their computers...
& free is a good thing.
i switched from another mp3 player to iTunes, which, overall, is more logical, intuitive...hasn't crashed on me (yet)...9.1...
i appreciate having it, & iMovie...

They already have Audion for OS X.
The majority of SoundJam features will likely be rolled into iTunes over the next few months, so it's not much of a loss.
