Hi, just installed QT 5 and now when I click on a .mov file, I get one of these 2 problems:
1. The document "file name" could not be opened, because the application "QuickTime Player" could not be found. The document cannot be translated because an unexpected problem has occurred (-2126).

or

2. It starts doing this:
Translating: Filename
From: Quicktime Document
To: Unknown Document
When it translates it, it is just a sound file.

Why are these happening, anyone know?
Thanks

A few of things to try...

1. Make sure you only have one QuickTime Player application. Remove any older versions "MoviePlayer," etc. You may also have multiple folders with QuickTime stuff. There was a transition in the naming convention from "QuickTime Folder" to "QuickTime™ Folder" to "QuickTime" for example.

2. Do a custom remove, and then reinstall QuickTime 5.

3. After you have done #1 & #2, rebuild your desktop file.

I tried all of that and it still doesn't work. Anyone have any other ideas?

I had that exact same problem with QT 4.1 almost a year ago. I called Apple about it, and long story short, I did a clean system install. I think one or more of the (hundreds of) quicktime extensions may have become corrupted. A clean install did the trick
