Musical Instruments Digital Interface? Or something.

It simulates instruments to make tunes, and is really lame.

They're tiny files, not capable of anything more than different tune sounds etc.

No voice or anything.

Thats a basic rundown... probably partially wrong too...

oh cipher...
well, you've been right about everything else...

midi is a protocol, like usb or firewire...
it's old (about 13 years..?), we use it to interface keyboards, computers, drum machines, sequencers, ETC ETC
it has 16 channels (default), works pretty well.
most pop music uses it.
i use it everyday.
the midi sh*t used to play those horrible sounds on your mac when you hit a website...pretty sad.
but the protocol itself, is great (& midi2 is in the works)

Hehe, ok, I thought I was pretty off

Did I at least get the acronym right?

I was talking about those ones that play on web pages... didn't know it was actually a protocol, but that makes sense

Ah well.

yeah, u were right about that...
anyway, you've seen my "cipher 13" thread at the lounge, so you know the deal, i've shown u much respect...

still, i'm leaning towards the "ibm mainframe in the basement" choice...would explain the error...

LOL, even IBM mainframes can't always be right
Although talking to Sine, he's pretty set on the head-in-a-jar idea... hehe
