burn DVD-R w/o superdrive

When i bought my 733MHz Quicksilver, I went cheap and didn't opt for the superdrive. is there any drive on the market that will brun DVD-R's? my dad has the last generation g4 (the green one) with a DVD-RAM. will that burn DVD-R's? thanks

No a DVD-RAM drive will not burn a DVD-R.

the apple superdrive is just the pioneer DVR-A03 DVD-R/RW-CD-R/RW IDE drive, and it's widely available; you can just swap out your drives.

and since when were the last gen G4's green?

it might be blue, it looks green to me definately a g4 tower though...not an imac. i found that pioneer....$599. any hope for a dvd burner that will do dual-layer DVD's? thanks

don't hold your breath waiting for a dual-layer burner, at least a consumer version.

and don't you mean a G3 tower? the blue and white ones? there's no G4 that's ever been blue or green.

thanks...no its definately a 450MHz g4. i'm sure about that. its the same green as the buttons of the OSX version of IE if that helps. not that this discussion really matters

wait a second, do you mean the color of the power button is green? because i have a G4 450, and that's the only green i see.

it was over one year ago, but new enough to have a DVD-RAM. old enough to not have the superdrive. 450 MHz. old enough to not get the lcd. perhaps we should start a new thread to argue over what kind of computer my dad has. i have a 733MHz Quicksilver with 15" lcd and you can eat me if you want to argue about mine

yeah, i'm colorblind. and the color of the american flag aren't green yellow.
