Hey All,

I'm in a bind here! Just days before the new NASCAR season and no Real Player for OSX. All of NASCAR sites stuff is in Real format.

I dropped a line to Real but they only responded by refering me to information already known on there site..."waiting for final version of OSX".

Anyone heard anything?

I hope Real NEVER comes to X. I can't stand their crap Mac ports anymore!!! They also have a billion versions, and always make you upgrade every few months. I just get tired of it...

Know how you feel but there is sooo much out there streaming RP you really don't have a choice.

I prefer Shoutcast and MP3 streaming more because it doesn't break up as bad and the quality is always better.

I hate having to RP in classic when I'm in X. It sucks.

Read an interview (link in another thread) and it talks about real supporting MPEG4 looks like apple have started the ball rolling themselves and now have alot of people getting on board Sun Real etc...

Looks like apple are leaders of the pack when it comes to MPEG4 and how it will be done... It will be ISO standard to it will read in all MP4 players.

But I know I have lots of Futurama which is in Real format...

Cheers Edd

That's nice to know and I'll give that a try in the mean time. However, my goal here is to move on from OS9 and only use OSX. I know it's an impossible task at this point.

Thank you,

LOL. Have you tried using RealPlayer in Classic and then doing something remotely processor intensive on the OS X side?

Skip, skip, skip, skip, skip...

Yeah. the less classic, the better. And Kennethmac is right about the skipping when you so much as click something outside of classic while real is playing.

Well...It just got worse!

Now NASCAR.com only supports RealOne Player for the content I was interested in. Don't think there is even a OS9 version of that.

All hope is officially lost. I did send NASCAR.com a nasty e-mail, but I'm sure they'll just delete it. Hell, I'm even willing to pay the $29 bucks a year they want. I ask them to please consider using Quicktime as well as Real but I'm sure that is pointless too.

This is VERY sad. I hope sites like NASCAR learn that there are more people out there then the Windows OS drones. I hope they understand that by using standards, they will make more money.
