I have that program "mAC3dec G4" to convert .ac3 files to .aiff files, but problem is, it doesn't work. It either quits instantly when you click start in carbon mode, or when used in classic mode, it starts the conversion and runs for like 2 seconds then stops as if it has finished. I prefer to use an X native method, but right now I'd settle for any way to convert these .ac3's to a usable format.

are you using the latest version, 1.4? i've been using 1.1 under X, and it's worked fine for me. haven't tried 1.4. maybe you should try reinstalling it, or downloading it again...?

i just tried version 1.4 of mAC3dec G4 in X, on my Sawtooth 450. seems to work fine, and i think it works faster than v1.1 which i was using, now that you can enable the 'use altivec' pref. i'd say trash your old copy, and download a new one. it may be corrupted or something.

I trashed my copy, and had my friend who uses it on his dual 500 no problem, send me a copy of his version, and it still had the same problems on my computer, it is indeed a mystery.

what machine do you have, anyway? Also, have you tried emailing lukifer for tech support? I'm sure he would be just as interested in nailing this bug as you are.
blackmail is such an ugly word. I prefer extortion. the X makes it sound cool

well instead of just getting some strange copy from a friend maybe you should get an official copy from the author... http://macdvd.org/lukifer/mac3dec.html
his email is on there to. I was a little worried when you said "mAC3Dec G4" because I think that was an experimental build that lukifer posted to hotline servers but not to his actual webpage. I don't have a G4, so I never paid much attention...

huh i downloaded 1.3 and 1.4, tried all 3 apps (G4 and not) and all 3 did the exact same thing. I'll have to email the guy when I get a chance.
