hi there

I'm choosing between a firewire Lacie Pocket drive (4200RPM) or mains powered drive for use with G4 laptop. It's to be for Cubase VST, maybe 30 tracks of audio, and also Ableton's LIVE (live audio sequencing software)

Has anybody had experience with these drives and audio work?

The pocket drive would be convienient, but i am concerned about speed and access times.

What is your reccomendation?

I have a cheap old Maxtor firewire drive, and Digital Performer tracks. The firewire drive makes a good transport & backup drive, and that's about it.
