Is there an application that will populate a songs ID3 info (off of cddb for example) for an mp3 that has already been created.
It seems like there should be an iTunes srcript to do this. Basically, I have Mp3s that were encoded by N2MP3. Well, they don't put the Track N out of N information in the ID3 tags. So, I'd like an application or script that will fill in that information.
iTunes does this perfectly if you rip the song with iTunes, but I want to use a LAME based encoder.
Thanks,
jeff

No, I think he wans to have iTunes place the info into the MP3's after they have been created... I don't think there is a program for this as there is no way to link to the database as to what song you have...

Yeah, I'm looking for a program that will do it automagically. Seems like something that could be scripted... any Applescript experts out there ;-)
Doesn't have to be iTunes, anything really. This would all be a non-issue for me if N2MP3 filled the track # fields in.
Thanks,
Jeff

The CDDB identifies CDs, not tracks. It needs the disc as a whole to figure out what it is, and it still doesn't come to an exact match 100% of the time.
When you rip the CD, the TOC is the metadata, which is then cross-referenced to the CDDB, and the ID3 tags can be populated. When you have one lone mp3, there isn't any metadata to identify it with.
There's a hack out there to change iTunes to encode via LAME. Maybe you should research that.
If you just want to batch "track x of y" in a group, maybe that's in MP3 Rage (?)
