the new iMacs comes with a 60gig hard drive, do you guys have any recommendations in terms of partitioning out the drives when capturing raw media. Should I partition the 60 in any specific ratio?

I ALWAYS partition the drives this way:

small 2 or 3 GB partition for EACH OS
one or more partitions for applications, data, etc. on the rest of the available space.

Raw A/V footage takes up a LOT of space (something like 15-20GB/hour IIRC) so if you want to protect your data from a boot drive crash, better to separate them.

This way, it's MUCH easier to back up an image of the boot "drive". In fact, this weekend I have to clean up my OS X boot drive due to a MetamorphX bug that trashed my system, and I need to upgrade my 9 disk to 9.2.2 and I'd like to put it back to 9.1 just in case something goes wrong (which I doubt...I'm only using FCP and DVD Studio Pro under 9 now).

Mike
