To a mac drive....

Heres the thing... wanting to record to my drive... from a camera... USB.

Got any ideas as to which software to use to do this ?

Download Videoscript and teach yourself how to program something like that.

iMovie and Final Cut Pro are FireWire only. You could try something like BTVEdit. http://www.SolutionUK.com/btv/

BTVEdit can import a movie from a QuickTime compatible video source (from the Web, analog video input, Serial, USB or FireWire). If you can play your movies on your Mac with the QuickTime player, you should be able to import it with BTVEdit.

Be sure and pay for the Shareware fee, one of the features of the full version is full frame-rate video capture. If you don't pay the fee you'll only get something like 3 frames per second importing!
