I made a 59 minute movie that I want to burn onto DVD. When I export to iDVD (in iMovie2), the exported movie is 12.5 GB. I thought it should be 4.7 GB (or less) so that it would fit onto one DVD.

This is my first attempt, so I must be missing something. I don't want my first DVD to be a $5 coaster so what am I doing wrong?

Everything's cool; it's not mpeg-2 compressed yet. Your quicktime movie has a throughput of 3.53 megabytes a second (12,500 MB/3540 seconds).

iDVD2 will compress it to a 1 meg/sec throughput (1MB*3540 seconds=3540 MBs=3.54 GBs).

Hit burn and let the G4 work its magic.
I am stupidest when I try to be funny.

Ahhhh...Thanks for the info.

I thought the compression happens during the 3 hour export from iMovie.
