Hi all.

So I downloaded QTSS and installed it on my iMac. I've placed a hinted movie in the appropriate folder in /library/QTSS/movies, and I've turned on playlist, but I get an error from QT every time I try to get the playlist.

Can someone tell me how to access the stream? I'm thinking that I've set the mount point incorrectly or that I'm simply typing in the wrong URL or something pretty simple like that.

Does anyone have a blow-by-blow for setting this up?

Cheers

I'm having the same problem. I installed QTSS on my G4 running 10.1.2. I created a playlist using the sample.mp3 file that is already in the /Movies folder. When I try to connect I get a 'Connection failure -5420' error. I can't even connect from the localhost, so I don't know what is going on.

just downloaded qtss 4 on beige g3 with 10.1.2 (not x server btw).

streaming mp3s works great for me. i simply put the mp3s in a folder, assigned that as my root folder, set up mount point "/PurestBeatz" and "/PurestRapz" and started the stream. no errors, no problems. to access the two streams i created .m3u playlist files that link to my server properly. i am not sure of the setup for video files, however.

check the html manual at the tech support site. was helpful for me.

my new question now is how to have them listed as a streaming radio station in itunes...

I'm having no problem streaming mp3s.

Make sure you've done the following:
-DISabled streaming on port 80 (probably, since you might have Apache on)
- From the "General" page, set an mp3-streaming password. It can be whatever you want.
- Created an mp3 playlist,
- given it a name and a mountpoint
- and clicked "play" to make the playlist available.

Then,
- in iTunes (e.g.) open the url http://your-url:8000/mountpoint

For simple testing, use 127.0.0.1 as your-url. Remember that if you're behind a firewall, using your external IP or domain name will require port 8000 to be open.

Stream away.

The process is similar for movies. Make sure especially that you've set the movie playing, and that you're connecting on the right port. Those are the easiest steps to forget.

Completely bizarre. I can stream the video, but not mp3s.

I did everything you suggested, but it still isn't working. When I connect with iTunes, it creates a stream in the iTunes library, but it isn't playing and shows no elapsed time. There are no connections in the QTSS log or on the Main page. Any other ideas?

I'm assuming you managed to get it working? Care to elaborate?

I also managed to stram video, but not mp3's.

Created a playlist, started it, so everything is setup right.

My internal IP is 10.0.1.2

I named my mountpoit sample, just for testing, and added the sample.mp3

When i go to itunes, and I type http://10.0.1.2:8000/sample nothing happens. Well no sound is playing. Sometimes itunes says streaming buffer for ever, sometimes it streams buffer very fast, but it isn't playing.

Help.
