Slow DV in QT4.1?

When I play DV files on my B&W G3 350Mhz 320Mb they either stutter or are really blocky. When I play the same files on my friend's iMac DV 400Mhz they are huge, fast and smooth.

Any reason why?

Try increasing the Quicktime Player's memory allocation. That's about all that I can think of.

Does the iMac have QT5 or QT4.1? On my B&W 300MHz, I had the same trouble until I upgraded to QT5. Increasing memory did nothing to help it. It's with the DV codec and the way that QT handles the bandwidth.
