I'am fairly new at the idvd, fcp, imovie etc scene and of course noticed the fairly long wait in rendering. What is the main bottleneck for video editing:

a. Software
b. Slow bus 66/100/133
c. Slow memory ie regular sdram
d. Harddisk
e. Processor

I'am just wondering what the heck is the computer doing while it "Renders" is the hdd sitting there waiting for the data from the cpu? Or is it the cpu that's overpowering the hdd? I recently bought a 120gig WD 7200RPM w/8 meg cache and it helped quite a bit over the stock drive...would going to scsi or a raid setup decrease the time? Thanks for any input you may have to offer.

When it comes to video, everything is the bottleneck!

Video work is one of those areas in computer technology where even a f*ing fast computer isn't f*ing fast enough.
