*Please do not discount me as inept because this is my first post. I'm just new to the Mac world - been working on them for 4 years, finally was able to purchase the new iMac. Thanks!*
I recently set up an Airport network to share a DSL modem on my Win98 PC and my new (fabulous!) iMac (OS X, 800 MHz, 256 Mb). Everything has been running smoothly until now.
When trying to view our friend's Webcasts at
http://www.bathtubgirl.com/webcast.asp on the Mac (using IE 5.1 for Mac), RealPlayer is not detected. We downloaded RealPlayer Basic 8.0 and it seems to work fine with other RP applications, but for some reason on Bathtubgirl's site, RealPlayer is not detected and we are redirected to download the plug-in, which we have!: "You do not have the plug-in needed to view the "text / plain" type information on this page. To get the plug-in, click View Plug-In page."
Did much research, and used the info. from Real's FAQ (http://service.real.com/help/faq/rp8/configrp8mac.html#ie4) and made sure Explorer's preferences are set correctly to handle RealPlayer's file extensions. -- There are some unanswered questions, though. A few selections are not covered in the FAQ's: The defaults include Plain Text (not Binary), Macintosh file is deselected, and the File Type is set as PNRA. I tried various arrangements with these selections (switching to Binary, selecting the Mac file, etc.) with no luck.
So, I ask you, dear Mac community, is there anything to be done so I may watch the beautiful Bathtubgirl on my beautiful new 15" LCD flat screen? Or is this a horrible programming error that will cast a pall on my future Webcast viewing pleasures?
