I don't know if I like the idea of Apple buying out successful software products. It sounds a lot like Microsoft's tactics. How much competition do you think there will be in the mp3 playing software market for the Mac if all new systems come bundled with Apple's own software?

unlike microsoft, i think apple will use soundjam as a base (kinda like Free BSD with OS X).

Also unlike Microsoft, I believe this was a last-ditch effort by Apple to get in on the CD-RW bandwagon. Steve Jobs has no illusions about owning the software universe via acquisitions, unlike his counterparts in Redmond.
