iMac DV SE(9.4), Yamaha external8824 firewire CDburner, Maxtor 1394 80gb firewire HD, Canon Elura miniDV camera, two firewire ports. Can I really daisy chain these without plugging and unplugging? If so, what order would someone suggest?
Also read in my iMovie, the missing manual, that my Elura won't be recognized if I have an external firewire HD and it (my camera) mounted at the same time. Anyone had experience with it.
I know I could just plug and umplug things directly to my computer, but both the Yamaha and the Maxtor have these two firewire ports looking so lonely and convenient . . .

I have a similar setup to yours. I'm using a JVC camcorder instead. I also thought that imovie didn't want to see any other firewire devices online. But I can daisy chain with no problems. Doesn't matter if the other devices are on or off. I also have a sony DA-1 hooked up(to get movies out of iMovie straight to a vcr). Imovie 2 works fine with all this hooked up. Can't say it will work for you, but give it a try. If you need more details about my setup, let me know.

thanks, it worked!!! Downloaded video, worked in iMovie2 just fine. Only other problem is my new external Firewire HD doesn't like the Restart command. If I restart when it is on, I come up with a blank desktop (no icons). If I shut down and then startup using the little green button, everything is fine. Any suggestions?

Thanks again

Glad it works!!! Don't know about your other problem. For what it's worth, I can't turn my Yamaha burner off once it's on. If I do the imac freezes. Not a big problem though. Congrats again.
