So I bought the damn thing, now all I want to do is import sound (in this case, output from a Digital Voice Recorder) through the DV bridge--but how?

iMovie doesn't seem to accept sound-only input. None of the other shareware programs (Sound Sampler, Sound Extractor, Audiocorder etc.) seem to accept an input via Firewire.

I know, I know--overkill. Why not just plug it in the mic input. Well, what if it were the output from a stereo cassette recorder?

There's gotta be a simple way here.

I suppose this question would also apply to the Formac and the Sony.

You can do a good job bringing audio in using CDSpin Doctor in Toast 5 http://www.roxio.com/en/jhtml/support/webcheckup.jhtml
A stereo into mini jack is provided and plugs right in to the mike input. Set input to built-in mike in the sound control panel. You can convert analog to digital in real time, and then compress it for MP3 or store it full size. Then convert to CD at a fast burn speed. You can also get the stereo into mini adapter at Radio Shack, if you don't need Toast. Good luck.

I believe BTV can do what you're looking for (and a whole lot more).
