G4 won't recognize my Sony PD-100 (like TRV-900)

So,
I can't import footage through firewire in either final cut or premiere. When I try to turn on device control in Premiere, it won't let me. On the camera, under DV settings it says DVin, but I want to switch it to DVout. The camera won't let me do this. Do I have to do something my software. My firewire software is up to date. Thanks, Eric

Which operating system you're using? OS9 or OS10?
