VHS footage into a Performa?

Can I dump footage from a VHS tape out of my VHS machine into my Performa 6300? I here this is easier than trying to convert it and get it on my G4 from a VHS machine.
If I can get it into my Performa 6300 how would one go about doing this? What all is involved and technically how could it be done?

I`ve never tried it but isn`t that what the video and audio jacks in the back are for.And the Apple Video Player controls have a video record button.
Brought to you by the Performa 6320
with 48mb ram and a StarMax 3000/160 with 96mb ram and both on OS 8.1
