When exporting video I've captured (from a DV cam), I run into some problems. If I change the size of my export (exporting to Quicktime Movie, btw) from the 720x480 original, I get digital banding when there is movement. If I view the timeline at 88% (fit to window), this banding doesn't show up. If I view it at 100% I see it.
If I view the raw movie (captured from iMovie {just so i have individually labeled/arranged files}) everything looks fine. The minute I export it to quicktime of a varying size, it sucks.
Is this due to FCP2 and a problem resampling the resized image?
Am I missing something?
To correct this I've had to export as a DV stream and then let Cleaner handle the compression. This is probably a better alternative anyhow, but I'd still like to know what the problem is, for peace of mind, ya know.
P.S. It doesn't matter what codec I use when compressing the movie. If I do it from within FCP, the banding will occur (on scenes with fast motion).
