Imagine going to a small club that has some unknown band playing, you sit back order a Long Island Ice Tea and wait for the hotties to roll in.

The band starts getting ready for the set and their sound check sounds like cats fighting in an alley. You decide to order another Long Island saying to yourself "no dancing tonight". But then the band starts playing... and they are really good. If fact you notice that your foot is tapping and your head bobbing.

Before long your asked to dance, on the way to the dance floor you notice that their are two stacks of CD's on the stage. After finishing the set the band starts to break down their equipment. You head up to the stage and ask the singer if they are handing out CDs. The purple haired pin cushion tells you that they have CDs for $8 and DVDs for $12. Shocked you ask: "What's on the DVD?".

"Music videos for all our songs" says purple haired pin cushion.

"I'll take one of each" you say incredulously.

You take the DVD and slide it into your home system for review. To your surprise the video is high quality and the content is actually entertaining. You decide to play the DVD at your party tomorrow.

All your friends show up and are impressed at your muti-media entertainment. One guest is so impressed that they want to know who the band is. The next thing you know this unknown bad is playing on the radio. All thanks to the Superdrive.

For this exact reason, I want an external SuperDrive. I heard (rumours at best) that CD Cyclone might release a FireWire version of the Pioneer DVR-103. The MSRP is only $995 US, found at http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/Pi...010100,00.html which isn't so bad considering that when this technology came out in 1998, it was around $17000!!

I know I'll be saving my pennies for a long time but it doesn't help when tuition keeps on going up and up and up. Especially when the government's surplus keeps on going up and up and up; but that's for another post.
