ok, FCP addicts, I've got a couple problems I need some help on...

First, I've got a 400 mhz G3 doing the rendering... its a pain... but the real problem is when I try to modify the speed of a clip. I took a 20 minute clip and sped it up to 40 seconds. However, it can't seem to play it back at all correctly. It drops frames like crazy. I don't get it. I'll probably end up using iMovie's speed adjustment to speed up my footage, but does anyone have a solution?

The other major problem I've got is when rendering titles and any other effect, the brightness of the clip changes, and it creates a blinking effect when you view the final product. This didn't happen before. I've checked out all the render quality settings, thats not it. Any ideas?

The words of a Final Cut Newbie... HELP!

If you haven't done so already post this question on 2-Pop. No doubt someone will have an answer there.

The dropped frames issue is generally a problem with the speed of your hard drives ie they can't function at a rate high enough to play back the footage.

I solved the Luminance problem... apparently when I re-installed Cleaner, it installed the RadDV Codec. That happened to me before, except it was with iMovie...

anyway, after getting rid of the codec, the speeding up worked once, then it didn't.... oh well, I might as well run the footage through iMovie.
