Not sure if this is a good place to post this but here goes.
I have a iBook 500 with a Lacie 24x firewire burner. I just started using it under OSX.1.2. Now I'm burning several (30) CDs and they are 40mins long. It takes it at 16x 7 mins ---at 24xs 6 mins per disc. I've tried to set the ram settings from 64megs to 1 meg. What am I doing wrong? Shouldnt it take about 2 mins to burn.

UGH!

what speed are the CD-R's? I would also like to note that saying 24x burner is like saying my car can go 0 to 60 in 9 seconds... It can do it, but it never does...

the discs are 24x. With setting the cache to 4 megs I can get it to burn the 40 min disc in 4 mins now. Not horrible but should be faster. Most of the time consumption is in the "filling ram cache" part. The timer is not accurate either. 1.5 seconds for every 1 sec it shows.

kind of the whole OS10 slower thing happening I guess.

Try it in OS9. Toast for OSX is buggy.

I can burn an 80 minute CD in OS9 at 8X in like 8 minutes.

I used it in 9 but my extensions got screwed up and it wont read my firewire drive. I cant seem to get it right. SO I started using it in 10 and at least it works.

If I set the ram to 64 megs, it takes forever!!!

if your burner supports it, try setting toast to Disc-at-once mode, then it might not stop to fill the ram cache after every song at least
blackmail is such an ugly word. I prefer extortion. the X makes it sound cool
