Hey folks... heres the deal.

I have about 30 movies... "MPG's".

But, alas, they aren't VCD-compatible MPEG-1's.

I wanna make a VCD out of these clips (they're NIN video clips, btw). I have Media Cleaner and QuickTime Pro and Toast Ti and so forth.

I cannot export them to a Toast VCD because of "invalid tracks" or whatever. I've tried exporting them to QT movies then to MPEG1 with no luck, I don't think. Can't remember.

Media Cleaner doesn't like them at all.

Any ideas?

TIA.

Are they muxed? Maybe you need to bbdemux them, then marry the 2 tracks back together to transcode to vcd.

It's an idea.

Tried that, then didn't bother recombining the tracks cause FCP2 was playing up on me, and I didn't have the patience...

What would you say was the best app to recombine the files?

Thanks

FCPro is probably the best, but you could do it in Quicktime Pro too. Open video, open audio, copy all video, paste scaled into audio.

Or maybe it's the other way around?

Anytime I've tried to recombine audio and video tracks, I always have synch problems. I don't quite know why when you demux the tracks, they rarely seem to come out at the same length. Can't explain that one.

i don't know if this is related, but i had a similar problem. i had to rip a scene off a dvd to make a .mov for a presentation. after ripping the tracks, and converting the m2v to mov, the audio was slightly longer than the video when i put it in FCP. there was no way they would ever mesh. then, i realized that the movie on dvd was filmed, and therefore was shot at 24fps. when converting m2v to mov, once i changed the frames to 24 fps instead of 29.97, it worked perfectly.

*sigh*

BBDemux reports invalid bits...

Lets try this again.

Woo... bbDemux 1.2 worked.

Seperated the two tracks. Imported the MPG to FCP and it worked (reluctantly).

The MPA (MPEG-Audio) was more troublesome... resorted to converting with SoundApp to AIFF for use with FCP.

Rendering the movie now... *crosses fingers*

99%...
