i thought ringtones were stored as individual tones, kinda like midi "notes", so the phone doesn't store actual music but rather tone instructions.

if that IS the case, you wouldn't be able to transfer "music" as a ringtone.

I agree with nitram. I've heard of programs that can take a midi file and turn it into a Nokia ringtone, but the results are variable.

The only ways I know of getting a ringtone into a Nokia from your computer are using something like Nokring or Data Suite (both PC programs) in conjunction with the infra-red link or data cable.

I haven't seen equivalents for the Mac yet.
