I have a couple of questions about MPEG4 and QT6....
I'm currently going through the process of digitizing a ton of videos of TV shows I have and turning them into Quicktime movies. I'm wondering though, since this is going to be a longterm project, whether I ought to wait for QT6 and MPEG4. Currently, I'm using Sorenson 3 at 24 fps and IMA 4:1, and I'm able to fit 2-3 hour-long television programs onto a single CDROM.
Now for the questions:
1) How does MPEG4 compare to Sorenson 3/IMA 4:1 in terms of file size? How big will a 43 minute MPEG4 video be?
2) To save a file as MPEG4 from QT6, will I have to export it or will it be the default format for the "save as quicktime movie" option?
3) Will I be able to compress MPEG4 "on the fly" with something like BTV? Or will the compression be so processor-intensive that this is not possible?
If it makes any difference, I'm using a G4/533 with 384 MB of RAM.
Thanks in advance!
Cheers
Scott
