I've entered the registration correctly several times but it doesn't accept it. Is my QT4 Pro registration causing a problem? Do I need to remove a certain file?
TIA,
Chris

Your QT 4 Pro key will not work with QT 5. You must purchase a new key. From:
[URL=http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/]
QuickTime Pro keys bought after October 12, 2000, work in QuickTime 4 and QuickTime 5. Keys bought before this date will work in QuickTime 4 only.
Sorry.

Yeah, that was a bummer. I was trying to input my QT5 reg. number and it wasn't accepting it either. I rebooted after installing QT5 and then accepted the QT5 code. Doh! Its always the simple things.
thanks.

I had a hell of a time with that - I couldn't install QT Pro 4, because it was telling me that a new version (5) was available... and making me go to 5. Well thanks, I don' t have a friggin code for 5!
So I bought one. Well, let me rephrase.... I 'got' one.
Nice being able to download vids....

I agree. As it is now, Apple are forcing the QT update down our throats. Everyone who has QT 4 Pro can't even get any of the basic (playback-only) codecs from 5, forcing them to upgrade and therefore lose their current (4 Pro) software! Which they payed for, and leaving them with an inferior product! We have that problem at work, where we have about 10 Macs equipped with Pro. We can't update 'cause we lose the 4 Pro license. I know it's a small thing to pay for the 5 license, but what if you have an entire business equipped with Pro? What if a business have computers available to the public? Should they have Pro on them, or the more compatible 5. Or should that be incompatible? I don't think I'm the only one who's had problems with AVI files under 5, files which played in 4! (Or am I...?)
Bottom line is, Apple f**cked up.
