I installed QT4 on a 9600, and then EditDV stopped being able to recognize FireWire devices. Any hints?

Try disabling Quicktime DV Firewire Enabler and Quicktime DV Firewire Support. These don't seem to support any Firewire except Apple's built-in, so stick with the SoftDV codec that DO supplied for you and ditch the QT version. I had this problem with the Adaptec 8495 and with the TI Firewire card that Promax ships.
