Is there any way that I can utilize the digital (optical) out capability of a DAT deck to get recorded audio from the deck to my Mac without any analog-digital conversions? If so, what products do I need to purchase?

My Mac is a Lombard Powerbook (USB, SCSI, no Firewire), for reference.

TIA.

Thanks. This unit looks like it will do the trick, if only for a (large) bundle of dollars.

how about this:

http://edirol.plands.com/shop/prod-g...temcode=362166

S/PDIF optical and coax in/out, rca in/out, mic in, headphone, USB

the tascam is overkill for what you want to do, not to mention pricey!

Perfect!
This vendor has a cheaper price, just for the record (and the search engine).
