I posted this in OSX general but got no response, perhaps here?

3D Labs has unofficial drivers for their cards in linux versions. would it be possible to recompile these drivers for OS X? I'd kill to throw out this crappy ATi for a 3D Labs Oxygen card. Anyone know if this is possible?

-OR-

how would one GET a 3d labs card (AGP) working in a mac, period?

Chances are, that the Linux drivers rely on Linux itself, meaning the kernel. If not, then it's probably just an X Server, meaning that it would be possible to at least port them to Darwin/OS X. There's no chance of there being any standard, Aqua/Quartz functionality being in there.

3Dlabs doesn't appear to have a wide open chip spec available, but they do offer to work with developers. With a little elbow grease, some patience, and experience with writing OS X drivers, a native solution shouldn't be that hard to come up with. As far as them performing like they should, I dunno. Might be better off with a GeForce3. Cheaper, too.

I looked for some OPENSTEP and Rhapsody progress, but there's no support there, aside from OPENSTEP's VESA driver.

Thanks for the info, I guess I'll be selling this lil pile of oxygen card then. Or I could pull the PC from under my desk (and feet) and actually put it to some use......NAAAAAHHHH

With MAYA coming over to OSX, hopefully in the future it will be considered a platform for 3D development, then MAYBE we will get some more hardware toys around here.
