Hi. How best to convert .avi files from my Canon G2 (still camera with limited video capabilities) to a format recognizable by iMovie etc?

This is a somple job for Quicktime Pro (if you have not registered your copy of Quicktime up to the pro version do it now - it is worth the price...)
anyways, all you have to di is ipen the AVI in Quicktime and export it as DV - you probably will want to change the size of the AVI to 720x480 (assuming you are using NTSC). The video will look blurry, but hey it's a still camera not a DV cam...
hope this helps....

Thanks. I may wait for version 6. Apple has said that passwords for QT Pro 5 will no longer work for 6 (although it will work for the Preview).
Anyways, this may be moot, since iMovie is very unstable for me, and I don't have anything on my Mac to export the files to. I only have an iBook, so I can't use iDVD.
