Lots of firewalls block UDP packets. It would be good for qt4 to have a fallback mode to only use TCP (similar to RealAudio),

Could this be why RealAudio is worthless on my system? I am using Vicomsoft Internet Gateway (v5) and RealAudio is so bad I can't believe anyone would use it for anything without major coercion, like gun held to head.

Of course, one might argue that dropout-filled, constantly "resynchronizing", tantalizing short bursts of audio (and sometimes video) with minutes-long gaps, is better than not working at all, which describes QT4 streaming.

VIG 6 is out today. I wonder if it will take VIG 7 to support streaming? UDP packets do not have a SYN bit (a la TCP) to help a NAT gateway to identify connections but not-well-known port numbers behind the gateway could still be remapped using timers. (There may be other ways to do the same; VIG 6 has some interesting psuedo-proxy-server functionality.)
