How much should I charge?

I need the help of the video pros out there.

Some friends of mine who run a local business occasionally need to have small videos digitized (usually just news reports and promotional videos) for placement on their web site, and I've taken care of a couple of them. I've told them, though, that I'm going to charge them for any further work they ask of me.

But how much should I charge? I have no idea what the going rates are for this kind of thing.

And I'm by no means a pro at this, so I'm not using cleaner (am saving up for it...one reason I'm charging them) or anything all that fancy. Basically, I'm just turning their videos into 320x240 quicktime movies (video: sorenson3, medium quality, 24 fps, no key frames; audio: IMA 4:1, 22khz, mono, 16 bit) and sticking multiple sizes of them on a CD.

Can someone out there give me an idea of what you would charge for this kind of service?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers
Scott

Howdy.

If by the hour, $20
If by the movie, 65-85 each.

That's what I get. It can go up from there depending on the client.
Lots of factors apply.

I would do it for $30 an hour if you aren't a pro... (whatever that is ) If they are friends, do it for $20 an hour... If they have the cash, go for $50-$90 an hour.

Like I said, I just needed a sense of what the going rates are. I'll be doing my last freebie for them this evening.
