My Appearance sounds seems to have "changed" slightly since installing QT 4. They're a bit more, hmm, raspy now...

This happened to me once, but I wasn't sure if it was related... maybe it is... I noticed that QT4 installed a new Sound Manager, which might have something to do with it.

I can confirm that. Especially "moving" sound for dragging or releasing after dragging are causing a slightly disrupted sound. Hope that will change...

I can also confirm this although my work system didn't seem to be affected. I can really hear it when I drag something to the trash, with the Platinum soundset. Sounds like my speakers are cracking or something.

I had the same thing - disabling Sound Manager 4 solved the problem, though this does kill a few QT4 features, it makes my Finder sound right again...

Bad Apple.

Just to confirm that it is the new sound manager extension that is the culprit. I decided to uninstall QT4 and go back to QT3, now everything is fine again.

Hi - I also noticed some degradation in sound quality with QT4. I first noticed this in beta18, so I uninstalled it and put QT3 back. When QTb21 was released I decided to try again... same thing. It almost sounds like my external speakers are fried. I've noticed it in the Appearance soundsets, and with playing games such as Carmageddon 2... I really hope it gets fixed, as I find the sound very irratating!

Confirmed. The platinum soundset doesn't work under QT4 as it was supposed to work. Dropping files causes strange sound-effects in my case. beige G3/333

Someone on the Apple support board suggested removing the Sound Manager version 3.4b21 extension that is in the Extensions folder and replacing it with the 3.3 version that came with OS 8.5 -- Worked for me!
