Anyone have any experience with Canon Elura DV/Still camera's? I'm able to download video to imovie but no luck in loading stills (from the media card) directly to iphoto. iphoto does not recognize my camera. Did I read somewhere that iphoto supports only USB...and not firewire? Much thanks. <img border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" title="" src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" />

Did you check the Finder to see if a volume gets mounted when you plug in the camera? If so, you could bring the photos into iPhoto via File/Import.

Another thought: Try taking the tape out.

Interesting question. I have an Elura 2MC but have never tried downloading stills from the media card to iPhoto, and don't even know if it can be done. Do you have the camera's control wheel set to VCR, or Card Play? Have you tried downloading the stills to iMovie? I don't know if that can be done either.

A better strategy might be to record the still images from the card to a DV cassette (I know this can be done - check the manual), then download the images to iMovie, then export the images as stills from iMovie.

My strategy is to forget about using the media card for stills and just take videos. iMovie can take any frame from a video and export it as a still, which I believe will be the same resolution as it would be using the card. That way, you don't have to interrupt your filming to take stills, and you have a broader range of images to select stills from. When I want high-quality stills, I use a separate digital still camera.
