OK, I've got a strange little situation here and wanted to see if anyone else has seen it. I recently purchased a ZR45, planning on using iMovie 2 and my Cube to do some video editing friends 'n' family-movie type stuff. Anyway, when in OS X (10.1.5) and iMovie 2, the Mac doesn't recognize that the camera is connected, whether plugged in directly to the Cube or through another firewire device. Rebooting, unlplugging and plugging back in affect no change. In 9.2, though, it works fine, at least when plugged directly into the Cube. I've read somewhere that OS X still has some firewire issues to be ironed out. Has anyone experienced anything similar, and if so, any workarounds? Any comments and/or suggestions greatly appreciated. -VPede.

i have almost the same setup as you:

canon zr-mc25
g4/733/512RAM
os x.1.5

i have not had any problems getting it to recognize the camera in iMovie. however, i cannot get the digital still pictures to download from the camera into iPhoto. i have to take the card out and put it in a card reader.

I've had no problems with recognition. When I plug the camera into the firewire port on the iMac, iMovie immediately shows it as connected.

Well, after reinstalling iMovie, it recognizes my camera just fine. I'm not sure what was wrong before, but hey, it works. Bruce, I do have the same issue in iPhoto with the ZR45, for some reason it will recognize that a USB camera is connected, but it will not see any photos on the card, even though the card shows as a connected drive with the files visible. Wierd. Thanks to those who replied. -VPede.

sure. i understand that canon has not released the driver for the card recognition. it really doesn't bother me that much, as i received a free zio card reader (it is really small) that i plug into the extra usb port on my keyboard.

I have the same camera disconnected problem with a Samsung VP-D55. I have tried reinstalling iMovie and Final Cut Pro but it makes no difference. Works perfectly in OS 9.2.
