What software need to play VCD?

What software is required in order to play a VCD on a iMac with a DVD drive under OS 9?

DVD's play fine but VCD are not reconized even tried opening with quicktime player, real player and win player with no success.

Does anyone know why QT in 9 can open VCD's and QT in X can't? It just seems a little odd (and a lot annoying) to me.
