I have enough $$$ to either bump my RAM up to 512 MB, or buy a new HD.

Which one would benefit iMovie more? I'm currently have 256 MB of RAM and 10 gigs total free drive space. I' not totally worried about running out of HD space, but if adding more RAM would speed up iMovie, I'd want to do that. If not, I'd plunk the $$$ on a new hard drive.

Opinions?

You can never have enough of either :-)

I've got 256MB of RAM and don't have a problem with that. Disk space is something that I do run out of (only have 12GB). My advice would be to get more disk space, this gives you more options, the ability to edit multiple projects etc.

I agree 100% with Mick. Also have memory as you guys do and have never had a problem with iMovie1 or 2. However, with some MP3s, still photos, etc on the hard drive, what's left is getting too darn small for my projects, especially with 2 or more going at the same time. Get the drive, with prices these days, add a new one in. Besides, it's pretty easy.

Get the hard drive dude, no doubt.
RAM is cool and all, but HD is invaluable
256 RAM is plenty.

Absolutely agree.

I run imovie on a g3 300 with 64 MB of Ram and a 37GB HD.
It has never given me a problem with iMovie.
