I am about to re-archive hundreds of images (photoshop files) on to DVD and I am looking for help with which DVD to use...3.9 or 4.7? will all future Macs read 4.7 GB DVDs? and are they as archival as the 3.9 GB? I had previously used Kodak but they only make 3.9 GB so is there a reccommended 4.7 brand? Thank you!

apple sells the 4.7 discs from their website (and probably at apple retail stores, too). I've used them repeatedly and have had no problems burning to them with an imac's superdrive. the discs run about $5 each (only in packs of 5, however; no singles for purchase).

unfortunately the DVD burning stuff gets confusing. Does that pioneer drive take DVD-R, DVD+RW, or some other format? Apple's discs are DVD-R, and my understanding is that they aren't specific to the superdrive, but will work on any DVD burner that takes those DVD-R discs.

however, my experience with this stuff is limited. you might run a search on these boards for 'DVD authoring', 'DVD burning', 'DVD-R', 'DVD+RW', etc.
