QT4 audio quits

I am running 8.5.1 on a B&W 350mhz w/56k modem. When viewing streaming video with QT4 everything begins alright, but about 1min 45sec later, the audio quits and the video becomes jumpy. I have to stop, then reactivate the video stream in order to get the audio and video back. The audio will then quit again after approximately the same amount of time. Is this a memory issue, a cache issue? It happens is Netscape, Explorer, and Quicktime Player. Any ideas?
