OS 9.0.4 / External ZIPCD 650 / i-Tunes 1.1/ Toast 4.0

I am tying to work out the easiest way to burn MP3's. Currently I am unable to get i-Tunes to do this for me as the burner never shows up in the preferences window.

Toast will not convert the MP3's to AIFF because it is a free version included on the ZIPCD software disc.

Are there any free MP3 players that will recognise my external CD burner and then convert the files to AIFF for burning.

At present I have to drag the MP3's to a MP3-AIFF converter, and once converted I drag them to Toast for burning.

There must be an easier way than this...

p.s. I know there is in i-tunes but i cannot get it to recognise my external cd burner...

Yes and No
There is an easier way but It's not free.
The best option is Roxio Toast titanium. It'll covert on the fly and burn in the background.
Do yourself the favor and spend the cash.(but check if your burner is on the list).

There is a free way: update Toast to the latest revision (4.1.2, I believe). The OEM version does convert MP3s on the fly, you don't need the Deluxe version.

Apple's "Drag and Drop" CD Burning utility looks pretty cool. I haven't used it, but looks cool and very easy in Steve's Keynote.

Disc Burner is too simplistic. About all you can do is copy fils with it - not to mention you need double the size of the CD you are burning to use it, available in HD space
Stick with Toast Deluxe.

Use iTunes. You'll probably need OS 9.0.4 first. Then iTunes should work seemlessly. I've got a USB external ZipCd 650. First time after installing iTunes, it worked. Make sure you turn off your Toast CD Reader and Toast USB Support extensions. Then, you could also get DiscBurner 1.01 to work too.

mrchin -
thanks for the suggestions.

I have turned off the Toast CD reader and Toast USB support extensions but iTunes is still not recognising the ZIPCD...

Any other suggestions
