I'm very new to using Macs as well as to Audio-visual editing. I'm making a graduation video that includes 10 second video clips of each individual graduate in slow motion. There is music in the background and a narrator is speaking what each graduate is suppose to be thinking. I wanted to add a small amount of reverb to get a surreal or dreamy effect.

I'm using iMovie2 for video, and SndSampler to add the reverb to the audio clips. The problem I have, is that each type of reverb has seven or so variables to adjust. I've wasted hours adjusting the depth, strength, echo, delay, hall, simple, room, and filters, and usually end up with a "Darth Vader" sound or something like a microphone in a football stadium. I don't know where to start. Do you have some suggestions on what settings I might try to get this effect?

Thanks,
Matt

I can only speak generally as I've never used soundsampler. The key is that you don't need much for it to sound effective.

Just guessing here (using what you wrote as a guide):

depth = about 20 to 30%
strength = about the same

use a medium to large hall reverb. Throttle back off the strength and depth and you should be ok.

Could you privode a link to SndSampler? I can check it out. Cheers.

I tried to throttle back on the Strength & Depth like you suggested but it still sounds strange. Thanks for your help. Any other suggestions would be much appreciated.
