Unfortunately, the video camera I have doesn't have a Firwire port for easy hook up. I know there has to be a way to connect my camera to my iMac.

Would someone please explain to me what I need to do to connect the camera to my iMac?

I usually have good sense about this kind of thing, but I don't have a clue right now.

I'm sure this question may have been asked. If so, please point me in the right direction to the archives. I'd prefer a real time answer. Also, this is my first post in the Multimedia & DV.

I would recommend an analog to DV converter box of some kind. I'm aware of three made by Power R, Sony, and ForMac and all three are between $300 and $400. Basically, you plug the yellow red and white RCA analog outputs on your camera to one of these boxes, and the box converts it to a DV stream and sends it over a FireWire cable into your Mac.

I just made a post asking for opinions about the video quality between the three, so you may want to see if anyone has a recommendation.
