Nothing, same old, same old.

The only selling point is that it enables VBR with Sorenson Pro 3. I think it is going the way of Debabelizer, past its time. Still no Altivec, no OSX, no multi processor support. All in all, I can't wait for Sorenson to come up with their own...

P/s it does support XP!

My 2¢

Apple is seriously going to loose out if they don't get some application that will compress video into a compact format. I just want to be able to record shows and save them to my hard drive or burn them to a CD so that I can archive them. I can do it now, but it's such a chore and the quality is somewhat low. I just don't get it.

Media Cleaner isn't Altivec or DP enhanced???

Christ, no wonder it's so damn slow.

Is there any alternative that is? I don't fancy spending 90 hours to encode a movie :

Ok, lets get a few things straight here.

Media Cleaner is MP aware
Dual Processor Support
cleaner 5 is optimized for speed on dual processor machines.
look under encode

second, sorenson:
Q: Do these technologies offer additional MP and AltiVec enhancements over previous versions?
A: Both codecs are AltiVec enhanced and SV3 will have MP support but it is hard to say that these features are enhanced over SV2. SV2 was AltiVec and MP enabled also. AltiVec and MP support are important as tools to improve the speed of the codecs on those systems. SV3 is 2x faster than SV2 on AltiVec systems so from that perspective it is enhanced.
three questions down

Get some facts straight, kiddies. Sorenson has been MP aware and altivec enhanced since v2 and mp aware with v 1.
do you all NOT remember the multitude of cleaner bake-offs???

finally,

What do you want? quicktime to compress your home movies to animated gifs? Tivo's have multi gig hard drives for a reason, VIDEO IS BIG. it takes up lots of space, you aren't going to have your favorite episode of friends get compressed down to 2 megs. (unless its a 160 x 120real player file at the lowest bit rate ever) It just doesn't work like that, sorry. Sorenson is an awesome codec. Don't knock it. Hands down it has the best and highest quality for CD-ROM distribution. Thats what it was made for, and thats what it is used for by everyone for CD ROM production, for a reason.

Nick

p.s. one more thing...

mp aware apps. bottom right corner.
