Can't export to FCP

Ok, I give up. For the last week I've been trying to get my movie out of Final Cut Pro. I have an iMac DV SE with a JVC camcorder. I'm also using the Sony DVMC-DA1 converter. Getting video into FCP is no problem at all. And FCP runs flawlessly on my iMac. But when I export to video the movie plays back but not through the firewire port. I've triple checked all my settings and connections. I have ALL the latest upgrades. The weird thing is that I also use iMovie and I can export from it with no problem. If FCP can "see" the DA-1 when I import video why can't it "see" it when I export??

the problem lies with having both fcp and i movie on the same machine, remove i movie and you should remove the problem, you can also go in and adjust all the settings & preferences for both but it's a pain

Thanks for the tip. I removed iMovie like you said and FCP still will not export. I even reinstalled the system software and FCP (with out iMovie) and still no luck. This is so frustrating. I read post where people use FCP on an iMac with no problem. I spend $1,000.00 on this software and can't even use it. Anymore tips would be appreciated.

I am using a iMovie with a JVC DVF21 on a 266 g3 with an orangelink firewire/usb car. iMovie sees the camcorder just fine every thing works great, but every time I try to export to tape the camcorder just turns off. Could the problem be that I only have 64mb of ram?

Could you post the settings you have in FCP's Capture Settings and Device Control. Need more info.

Cabana,

bizzare might be onto something. I had a problem with exporting with the same hook-up but mine all of a sudden started working and has worked ever since. I don't know if my Software Update had anything to do with it. (I remember a Firewire update recently) But anyways. I would HIGHLY suggest posting this question on the FCP boards at:

Anyways good luck.
